Native RainScapes Transformation: From Lawn to Urban Oasis

Native Rain Garden & Conservation Landscape | Montgomery County, MD

Nearly 4,000 sq. ft. of lawn transformed into a 90% native landscape, designed and installed by PlantMe Love.

This large-scale RainScapes project combines rain garden and conservation garden design with extensive regrading and stormwater management. River-stone channels were created to capture and convey water throughout the landscape, complemented by a stabilized pathway, seating areas, and more than 1,400 plants including native trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials.

From design through installation, the goal was to transform an underused urban lawn into a beautiful, resilient landscape that manages stormwater, creates habitat, and becomes richer as it matures.
